Yesterday was my birthday. So, my husband along with my daughter and myself went to a chinese restaurant MIRAGE here in Riyadh. It is quite an amazing restaurant with very nice ambiance.
Interior is very different from other kind of typical italian and arabic restaurants. It has oriental touches throughout all its decor and settings. There are huge gigantic acquariums filled with different colourful fish which delights not only you but also your young ones. A pond in the middle of the restaurant with a few fish in it and some dining areas arranged over it adds to the exlusivity of the restaurant. The aquatic arrangements, a variety of colourful fish, dim lights and red candles altogether offers a very relaxing and cozy atmosphere and gives a slight romantic feel to the overall experience.

The restaurant is quite spacious and offers options for beautiful closed/private dining rooms and some exquisite open dining area. There is also an option of traditional japenese style floor sitting dining rooms with big glass windows for outside view. It is one of the few restaurants in Riyadh where you can have luxury to see over the outdoor and have a view of the hustle bustle of life and busy traffic while being indulged into your food satisfying your taste buds sitting alone or with your loved ones.
Staff is very friendly, helpful and provides good and relatively quick service. Menu book has a lot to offer and is detailed with pictures which helps a lot in making your decision on what to order specially if you are not very accustomed to this kind of food. The food ranges from chicken, mutton, beef, shrimps, prawns and goes to the delicacies of duck, lobsters and crabs. Each of this has further several dishes catering to different kinds of taste. Starters also have a lot of variety. Overall, if you have not made up your mind before on what you want to treat your taste buds with, it is quite a thorough and time consuming exercise to finalize your order.
We ordered prawn cakes, hot & sour soup and chicken corn soup as starters. Main course for us was comprised of Dry Chilli Lobsters, Spicy Duck Gravy with Garlic rice. The qaulity of food was very satisfactory. Serving size was also very reasonable. The restaurant deserves revisit and is highly recommended if you want to spend some quality time with your family in a nice and comfortable environment while enjoying well cooked recepies.
